ANGLING: Big chub is winner for Finnemore UK Fishing

A cracking chub of 5.5.0 helped Greg Finnemore to victory in Tackley Estate AC’s final Cherwell Challenge fixture at Hog’s Bottom on Sunday.

But overall it was an all-too-familiar story, with eight of the ten competitors blanking.

Finnemore caught two other chub for a winning 10.7.0, all his fish falling to legered maggot and bread.

A humble minnow was the only other fish caught, but it was enough to earn Mick Merry second place with five drams.

The heavy overnight frost meant 15 North Oxford AC anglers had to break the ice for their latest match fished with Witney AS members on the Oxford Canal at King’s Bridge.

Bloodworm and joker was the successful bait for the top three, led home by Jason Bean with 2.4.0 of small perch. Henry Clark had 1.10 for second, and Terry Whittington was third with 0.14.0.
