Angling: Encouragement for predator anglers
KLAA
By Darren Reed
THE last seven days have seen some encouraging signs for the predator anglers, while match anglers have also fared well.
Conditions helped the anglers during the early part of the week on Ten Mile Bank, but as winds picked towards the back of the week, specimen anglers became dominant.
Bream, skimmers, roach and tench all featured in the vast majority of catches throughout TMB.
Pole and tip anglers both reaped the rewards during a hectic couple of days in the early week.
Railway Bridge through to Modney Bridge was the more successful stretch, although a few skimmers and roach were reported from the Piggeries area.
Nets to 30lb have been recorded from the chapel area and Modney has produced nets to near 19lb.
Caster, maggot, worm and hemp have all been used as hook baits over a bed of ground bait.
Specimen anglers have also featured strongly on TMB with lures and dead baits working well.
Pike to 24lb and zander to 14lb 4oz have been reported, while plenty of jacks and perch have appeared on the small jelly lures.
The Middle Level has also been showing plenty of good predator sport.
Reports of pike to 17lb from Neeps to Crocked Chimney and pike to 23lb have been reported from the Aqueduct to Pingle Bridge.
Zander to 12lb 6oz have also been recorded. The level has been showing more consistency for the predator anglers.
Shepherd’s Lake has seen a quieter week for numbers but the fishing has been very rewarding for those anglers who have fished the venue.
Carp are still feeding with reports of a 11lb 4oz common, and a mirror to 9lb 6 oz being taken on eight millimetre boilies when used on the small method feeder.
Bream to 5lb and skimmers to 2lb have been showing on the tip.
Roach, rudd and the odd tench have also been feeding strongly. Whip, pole and waggler have all been successful in the last week.
Lynn AA and Lynn PAC will be holding a roving predator match on Ten Mile Bank on Sunday, December 11, with a guaranteed first prize of £250 and £50 for the biggest fish.
Draw 8am, Denver car park, fish 9am to 3pm. Lures and dead baits only.

Top Broadland pike angler Derrick Amies will be the speaker at the next meeting of the Lynn PAC on Monday, December 19 (7.30pm) at the William Burt, West Winch.
NAR VALLEY FISHERIES
THIS week has seen a slow down in the carp activity at the venue.
Lake Geneva and Fenn Lake have both produced fish to 20lb, but the bigger fish have eluded most members.
A few pike to 15lb have been landed in Lake Geneva and Fenn Lake, while John’s Pond is also worth a go.
Nar Valley Fisheries will be opening a new trout lake in March 2012.
Hobbs’ Lake is over 15 acres in size with depths averaging 12 to 15 feet, and will be stocked with a mixture of sized rainbow and brown trout.
This will be a season ticket venue, and has received positive reviews from those who have attended the open day and other viewings.
