Join the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County for its “Hard-Water Classic” Ice-Fishing Tournament on Saturday, Feb. 11 from noon to 3:30 p.m. at Blackwell Forest Preserve in Warrenville.
Whether they favor an ice jig or a tip-up, hard-water anglers of all ages will have the chance to try out their skills on the 62-acre Silver Lake. Awards will be presented for the longest three catches in bass, bluegill and crappie categories and for the overall longest fish caught during the tournament. All registrants will be entered into a raffle for ice-fishing gear. Participants must comply with all applicable fishing regulations, including those requiring all anglers ages 16 and older who are not legally disabled to have valid Illinois fishing licenses in their possession.
Advance registration is $15 per person online at www.signmeup.com/79739. Registration at the tournament is $20. Participant check in will take place 11 – 11:45 a.m. Blackwell Forest Preserve is located on Butterfield Road between Winfield and Batavia roads. For more information, call 630-876-5931.
Proceeds will support Forest Preserve District education programs that provide outdoor experiences for special-needs groups, Scouts and community-resource centers in DuPage County.
