Dates announced for this year's highly anticipated competition.
One of the biggest championships in the UK is getting underway with the announcement of dates for this year’s UK Angling Championship.

As one of the most coveted titles in British match fishing, the 2012 UK Angling Championship will see 80 of the country’s best anglers go head-to-head over four rounds.

Out of those 80 anglers, 40 have already been chosen with the top half of the anglers from the 2011 competition automatically qualifying. However, the other 40 places are still up for grabs through an eliminator round being held mid April at Solihull’s Barston Lakes.

“The UK Champs is one of the pinnacles in UK match fishing along with the Parkdean and Fish O Mania,” said reigning champion, Garbolino-backed ace Jason Le Bosquet about the competition. “To win it means everything as the field is very talented and you have to be consistent throughout. I’ll be back in 2012 hoping to repeat last year’s great performance”.

Entry for the eliminator, which also boasts a £1000 prize fund, costs £40. Places can be booked online through the UK Angling Champs website here, or by contacting event organiser Nigel Harrhy at Barston.
