Panama Fishing Report - Propiedad de Paradise Lodge, Isla Paridas - Jan 29-31, 2012
Bobby Thompson and Jesse Brooks took a break from the deep freeze of the Northeastern U.S. and joined us last week for a few days of bluewater hunting and relaxation here at Propiedad de Paradise Lodge, Isla Paridas.
The small tides and high water temperatures have definetely been affecting the fishing here in the Gulf of Chiriqui. The shortage of bait (blue runners) around the island here was frustrating to say the least. We managed to get a few but the lack of current and alot of moon seemed to shut the "coheenuhas" off. Offshore at Isla Montuosa and Hannibal Bank the bonitos have been hard to find and the water color was not the usual deep blue. Although we did run into some football size tunas, had a few strikes by Blacks on the plastics, and a nice mark out on Hannibal one day we didn't do too well offshore with the water temp at a steady 84 degrees. We decided to concentrate on the inshore action around Isla Ladrones and right out in front of the lodge here on Isla Paridas. We managed to get a few nice Cuberas and a couple of Roosters on the few live blue runners and bonitos we had. Ended up having a pretty good time even though it was tough. The tides are starting to pick up now so we ought to see a change in the bite starting this week.Capt. Shane Jarvis
