Guidelines - Kayak Fishing Gear
Since the sport is relatively cheap in comparison to power boat fishing, kayak fishing enthusiasts can do a lot of the things at a fraction of the cost. That enables the kayak fisher to splurge on better gear. In his latest article, Jerry White visits some gear upgrades that will provide an exponentially higher return to a "bargain" investment.

Trips Directory Spotlight
Outfitter Photo Isle Royale Kayak Tour (MI)
by Uncommon Adventures
We are going to strap our kayaks to the roof of a ferry, motor over fifty miles out to the largest island in the largest lake in the world and have a bit of a paddle. This is not a small thing. This unique island park with its Moose and Wolves is a popular destination for backpackers, but since it is an island we thought that it would make more sense to explore it from the water. Since we are budgeting eight days for this trip there will be plenty of time for day hikes, brisk swims, good lake trout fishing and listening to the loons. This is a magical place wrapped up in ancient rock, thimbleberries and the unforgiving waters of Superior. To insure your safety and maintain the flexibility of small camps, we limit this trip to only five participants. This can be a challenging destination with weather conditions that can get a bit "interesting". Though not appropriate for first time paddlers, for those with a little water time, Isle Royale is truly a Superior Jewel.

Product Review Spotlight
Cronje canoe by Nova Craft Canoe
The canoe performs as advertised. Great tripping canoe - it is surprisingly fast for a canoe that will turn when asked to. We tracked speed with a GPS and easily maintained a 4 to 5 mph cruising speed with an easy, all day paddle stroke. I would say that it's overall handling characteristics are superb in all sorts of water conditions... Rating: 9 of 10 by TWatkins
