GTS (Gamakatsu Teams Series) and Hobie have joined forces to form a new series of bream tournaments for 2013 - the Gamakatsu Hobie Fishing Series.
According to Frogleys Offshore (Gamakatsu distributors) Director Michael Starkey, "It is a great opportunity for extra exposure South of Sydney and with Hobie Kayak Australia's help we hope to grow and function the same way as the current GTS series does, with both powerboats and kayaks getting a platform to competitively compete, while maintaining a social and fun tournament where anyone at all can give it a go."
"In 2013, we will be expanding the current GTS series, which previous to this was based mostly in northern NSW areas. Dates are yet to be confirmed for the 2013 southern NSW rounds, however, we are excited about taking our expertise and current set-up into an expanded model into 2013."
"In 2012 Hobie Fishing and The Basin lure and fly Fishing Club struck a deal to have some rounds of the SSBS be qualifying rounds for the Hobie Kayak Fishing Series. This year the change of direction in the SSBS left an opportunity and a void in Bream tournaments, so we were encouraged to fill this gap, so Hobie and GTS formed a partnership to have this series return for 2013." said Hobie’s Steve Fields.
The series will consist of four to five rounds, with dates and venues announced soon, and a semi-final and GTS grand final at Forster with a boat package up for grabs.
